UPS & Backup Power

Sodium-ion backup power that holds its rated runtime in hot equipment rooms: dependable, deep-discharge capable, and intrinsically safer than lithium.

The Problem
  • Lead-acid backup strings age fast in warm equipment rooms and fail without warning
  • Capacity checks and replacements dominate UPS maintenance budgets
  • Deep discharges during real outages permanently damage lead-acid
  • Lithium alternatives raise fire-safety questions in occupied buildings
Why Sodium-Ion Fits
  • Dependable runtime with fast recovery and predictable performance in heat and humidity
  • Supports up to 0.5C backup loads with deep-discharge capability
  • Long cycle life, meaning fewer replacement cycles than lead-acid strings
  • No lithium and no acid, for a chemistry that is intrinsically safer in occupied sites

Backup batteries spend years doing nothing and then must deliver everything. Lead-acid ages regardless of use, faster still in heat, and a string that passed its last check can still fall over during a real outage. Heat is usually the deciding factor in equipment rooms; see how sodium-ion batteries handle heat and cold for why that matters here.

Ageing does not wait for an outage. A lead-acid or AGM string held at float in a room that runs warm all year can lose a large chunk of its expected life to heat alone, and it does so whether the power fails twice a year or never once. That breaks the usual planning model. The string gets budgeted around cycles and outage counts, while the room is what actually consumes it, so in a hot equipment room the replacement interval tracks the temperature rather than the duty. Sodion cells are rated to 70°C. Where the room rather than the load is the binding constraint, sodium-ion batteries for hot climates goes through where the heat sits on a real site and what it changes about the spec.

Sodion Argus monoblocks are supplied as part of project-scoped deployments following an application review of load, runtime and environment, so the system you commission matches the outage profile you actually have. Running a smaller home inverter or solar backup setup instead? See sodium-ion batteries for home inverters and backup for how the same chemistry scales down.
