Abundant and Accessible: Sodium is over 1,000 times more abundant than lithium in the earth’s crust, and SIBs will cost even less than the economical Lead-Acid batteries when it reaches mass scale.

Inherent Safety: When it comes to safety, SIBs are in a league of their own. SIBs have a much lower risk of thermal runaway, and can be discharged to zero voltage for safe transportation.

SIBs can operate between -40°C–60°C, compared to LABs range of 0°C–40°C.
Energy Density
SIBs have a higher energy density of 100–160 Wh/kg compared to LABs' 30–60 Wh/kg.
Weight
SIBs are significantly lighter than LABs—nearly 60% lighter compared to LABs.
Cost
SIBs have a longer lifespan than LABs, resulting in lower lifecycle costs.
Materials
Sodium is abundant and non-toxic; LABs contain toxic lead and sulfuric acid.
Efficiency
SIBs have >90% depth of discharge  (DOD) compared to 70–80% DOD in LABs.
Self-Discharge
SIBs have a slow self-discharge, compared to the high self-discharge of LABs.
Charge Times
SIBs are fast charging, charging up to 80% in under 2 hours. LABs take 4–8 hours.
